Who'd Like A Cocktail? #109

You're not alone, Ray; I miss them too.

  • THE BOYS #49 - Homelander reveals just how many badgers are in the bag that he's as mad as, while Butcher thinks back to the Boys' first meeting with the Seven. Things are definitely ramping up; can't wait for issue #50.
  • BRIGHTEST DAY #15 - you know, I find it amusing that even in the Martian Manhunter's dream sequence which takes up the majority of this issue, Wonder Woman is drawn throughout in her old, classic costume while the cover clearly shows her flying along with the others in her new, Jim Lee-designed outfit. Like I say, the majority of this is Martian Manhunter basically waking up but it's done splendidly so nothing to grumble about there.
  • DOOM PATROL #17 - Giffen introduces the Aristocrats, a deliciously weird family unit of psychopathic, immortal killers in the employ of North Korea to capture Oolong Island. So, perfect for the Doom Patrol, then.
  • FREEDOM FIGHTERS #4 - the Fighters find themselves in Enclave A, a secret facility where metahumans are tested and operated upon in the hopes of creating government controlled super soldiers. Looks like Firebrand's conspiracy theory fears were right all along!
  • JSA ALL-STARS #13 - Howard Porter's still trying to draw like Freddie Williams and not really succeeding; we get to the bottom of the Cyclone clones and the rest of the All-Stars return from space. Bit of a jumble, this issue, but hopefully things'll get back on track next month.
  • SECRET SIX #28 - the two Sixes finish up their business in Skataris after creating huge amounts of mayhem and bloodshed and end up working with Amanda Waller as the Suicide Squad in all but name. And I for one am more than happy with that!
And what made me smile:

Giganta finally gets her revenge for Dwarfstar arranging for the killing of Ryan "The Atom" Choi! And ten thousand fan-boys shouted "Yes!"
